Brief Description

Act No. 386 of 28 May 2003 introduced section 245a of the Danish Criminal Code, which entered into force on 31 May 2003. The provision criminalizes female genital mutilation. Section 245a states that any person who by committing an act of violence, excises or in any other way removes, in part or completely, female external sex organs shall be liable to imprisonment for any term not exceeding six years.
